Dave was sadly taken from us on 19th of November at about 8 o'clock, following a tragic road traffic accident whilst riding home on his beloved motorbike.
Dave was born and lived in Cheddar, Somerset, and leaves behind a sister, as well as his mum and dad. Plus numerous friends and colleagues. He even had a side-kick - or partner in crime as he called him - Bruno, his faithful hound, a big German shepherd cross who totally adored Dave!
At the time of his death, Dave was working as a volunteer for the Happy Landings animal rescue, in Pylle, where he undertook just about every task there was - but his main task seemed to be re-socialising an abused rottie dog named Tilly, who was scared of men, but Dave with his love and patience was winning her round!
He had a great affinity with animals and as well as being a vegetarian he was very much a part of several animal rights movements, including anti-hunting groups.
Up until a couple of years ago Dave was working in Bristol as a Youth Worker for under-privileged teenagers, but had to leave eventually due to ill-health.
Dave had a great many friends on line, and loved debating, chatting - sometimes vehemently! - on various discussion boards and forums. He was intelligent and had a keen sense of humour! (Who remembers Tony Time Team!!)
One of Dave's main loves in life was his bike, and he loved nothing better than to zoom off for a ride either alone or with his friends, through the Somerset countryside. He also loved music, especially Mod, and could play the guitar and drums, and had been in several bands.
He also enjoyed the odd tipple, and I enjoyed the occasional 'Cider Sunday' with him! He tried to poison me once with some terrible scrumpy!
Last but not least, Dave was a compassionate, caring and giving friend, he will be missed by so many people, he leaves a space that will never be filled.
Rest Easy Daddy Gecko. x

I know he will be safe with you, I know you always had a soft spot for him ...... added his pic to your photos....
a great loss
It was such a shock to hear about the loss of such a special person. I'm still in shock and disbelief that your gone. I remember our staff meetings where us women didn't give you chance to say anything! Oh yes you were over powered by all of us, but like always you let us ramble on.
My last memories of you will always be special. We celebrated my birthday together and argued over goody bags that H got us!! Kaira loved playing with you and fighting over the sweets and stickers!
my biggest regret was you never had the chance to meet the newest addition to my family.
I will always remember your smile Dave. You were always so caring, warm hearted and loving to everyone.
Rest in peace Dave. Keep shining bright.
With all our love
Lucy, Yaya, Kaira and baby Nyima

In some things we were so different. But you have always had my back as I always had yours.
I missed you and always thought we would meet again!
Now that has been taken.
I don't have the words to say how shocked and upset I am!
I know the motorcycle courier job will always be there.
You were a good man.
Safely Gone Home
I am one of he young people that Dave worked with in Knowle. He was a great guy, I will remember you always Dave. Canal boat trip, walks with the dog, Portugal, The Greenhouse, Weymouth. You gave so much to everyone else it is such a shame that you are gone but you will be remembered. I am living proof the work you did in the community mad a difference. Good Bye my friend, Always in my prayers, Terri x
It was with great shock and saddness when we heard of Dave's death.
He was a highly regarded colleague and friend, and was greatly missed by staff, young people and local residents when he left the Youth Forum due to ill health. He was fantastic to work with and cared deeply about the people in the local community. He was well liked by everyone.
He loved Christmas and dressing up for the Carol Bus, one year as a Christmas Tree, or dressing up as Father Christmas for the Teenage Parents Group, taking groups on trips to Portugal, Canal boating and Residentials.
He was passionate about many things, mainly fox hunting and animal rights and shared his knowledge with many who met him. He loved his dog, Bruno and often popped home on his motorbike during lunch time to talk him for a walk.
I personally have very fond memories of Dave, during our training and working life....
We often sat and giggled together at some of the antics of young people and staff after we had finished for the day. Had silly days where all we did was laugh, days when we were down and stressed to the hilt or shared lively debates on issues that arose during our work. Or chilled out and talked about music, past adventures and our hopes and dreams in life. We had some good times and some bad... but still he carried on smiling and supporting other's when needed.
Most of all I shall remember Dave for his great sense of humour, his belief in people, his passion for life and the love that he had for his dog bruno whom he adored.
Truly a lovely, lovely man who will be missed by many xxxxx
My condolences to all the family.
Jenny - Ex Knowle West Youth Forum Worker

Daddy Gecks
Gecks, I wish you could read this for real, and I wished I knew you were leaving, I would have made the effort for one last goodbye. You are not really gone though hun, you live on in my memories. I've spent all day thinking about the conversations we had, and how similar we were in our (unpopular at times) views of some other baggers.
What the shitting blazes was a bloke doing hanging about on a women's site? LOL
Code word - banana :-)
RIP my dear sweet friend.
